AOTK IS CURRENTLY SERVING IN TWO COUNTRIES:

 

Dominican Republic

The first center AOTK planted was in 2012 in a Batey (Haitian migrant camp) called Bombita located near the city of Barahona in the Dominican Republic. Year after year our mission teams visited this commmunity of people and saw a great need. The mission teams would report that the children were eatinng dirt, drinking sewer water and their bellies were full of parasites. We made a decision that we would not return to Bombita without bring a solution with us. We partnered with a church and after a year of hard work and lots of prayer, we launched the PORTION OF HOPE NUTRITION CENTER. Currently, over 100 children come once a day to eat a healthy meal. These children don't just receive a meal but they also receive encouragement, discipleship and love.

 

Peru

Our 2nd and most recent nutrition center plant is located in Ferreñafe, Peru. The poverty in this location can be seen by the alarming amount of malnourished children and elderly people. Many children go hungry because of the lack of resources. Many parents are unable to find work due to very harsh dry season and the lack of growing crops.

Why should I sponsor nutrition?

The monthly maintenance of our nutrition center can get costly.  There are also many pending projects we would like to see completed. Some of those projects include a bathroom renovation and adding a sink to the kitchen. We also have volunteer staff helping us to run our center. We would love to bless them with a love offering for their work as our volunteers are as needy as our children. Without our staff, the nutrition centers would not run.

 

Your monthly donation towards our nutrition centers can help us make the

improvements needed to continue to provide a safe and nurturing environment. We want the children to have a building they can be proud of!

Developing young boys into strong leaders.

El Faro Orphanage is a lighthouse for over 27 boys who have been rescued from a life of poverty, abandonment and abuse. They arrive at the orphanage broken and confused hoping that someone will help them piece their lives back together.

The Challenge

The orphange does not have the financial freedom to hire enough staff to help care for the boys. Over 80% of the boys are 2 to 3 grade levels behind in school. At this rate several will become discouraged and will not graduate high school.

How you can help

AOTK would like to hire 1-2 year round teachers/tutors. These tutors would come to the orphanage on a daily basis from 9 am to 12pm to assist with homework, projects and more.

​

The average pay for a full time employee is 150 US dollars per month.  The orphanage staff consists of a director, office assistant, cook, and three nannies.

​

We would also like to bring a few more workers on board to help with laundry, repairs and extra curricular activities.
